P3D V5 crash using sim GPS and database enabled
P3D V5 crash using sim GPS and database enabled
I am using fsaerodata in both P3D V4.5 and the latest version P3D V5. With the fsaerodata base enabled in V5 I have found using the default GPS units in the stock or addon aircraft in the sim I will get a sim freeze then CTD the moment I try to enter the desired airport ICAO code in the GPS unit. This does not occur if disable the V5 database in the fsaerodata program. The problem does not occur in P3D V4.5 and seems to be specific to V5. I have tested this using other addon software running such as Navigraph charts, Chaseplane and Active Sky P3D but the freeze only occurs if the database is enabled, regardless of what position the the Fsaerodata scenery entries are located in the sim scenery index or any other running addon software. Curious if anyone else has see a similar issue or has a workaround to try when manually making a GPS direct to entry.

Re: P3D V5 crash using sim GPS and database enabled
Hello,
Sorry for the delay in answering. I can reproduce the same error on P3D5. For the time being until there is a solution, try the following work-around:
1) Press the Direct-To button
2) Move to the second field (waypoint Name) and scroll until the first item that is displayed,
3) Move back to the first field and select the target ident.
Since the first waypoint that is displayed by default (002HP) is a waypoint that is being disabled by the database, it could generate an error when any ident is introduced for the first time.
I'll try to do some further tests to find out a fix, and let you know on this thread.
Regards,

Re: P3D V5 crash using sim GPS and database enabled
Thank you for investigating this problem, I will wait until cycle 2012 is available. I tried the interim method you suggested but each time I returned to the first field and attempted to enter the first character the same error occurred.
Re: P3D V5 crash using sim GPS and database enabled
I'm on cycle 2014 and my Vertx DA62 crashes the sim whenever I try looking up a waypoint. I'm on P3D v4.5
Any clue what's wrong?
